Choice of two topics (topic A).

Yesterday, on Tuesday 22nd, I was in class -electivo Juegos y Ludotecas- when our teacher talked to us about “pedagogía de emergencia”, a concept created by Bernd Ruf, a German Waldorf and an anthroposophist educator.

She showed us a very interesting and complete website about this pedagogy, but focused on our country. This website is: https://pedagogiaemergenciachile.org/.

Emergency Pedagogy has the object to help people after a disaster like the collapse of an internal structure caused by wars or natural disasters and aspires to help children and young people traumatized, offering first aid interventions in the psychosocial field, through pedagogical practices in educational contexts, based on Waldorf Pedagogy, originated in Germany.

Seeking to avoid its interference in the healthy physical, mental and spiritual development of children, youth and adults, the Emergency Pedagogy put into practice experiences include pedagogical practices present in the curriculum of the Waldorf schools, such as Art of the Word, Eurythmy, Gymnastics, Music and Plastic Expression, as well as games, various crafts and tasks of daily life, full of meaning. All this together with medical and psychological assistance and the inclusion of artistic therapies based on the same foundation.

In Chile, after the earthquake and tsunami of February 27, 2010, Bernd Ruf was contacted by Dr. Carina Vaca Zeller and Anita Isla, and by phone the first accompaniment was performed of the first intervention carried out in Chile.

I didn’t know this website, even when the topic it’s very important to me studying Early Childhood Education, because I think that probably will be one of my lines of work someday. So, it’s a great and relevant discovery for me. I’m sure that i’ll visit it recurrently, because it is necessary for me.

I recommend it to people who will work in contact with children in a situation of vulnerability or with entire families affected by poverty, natural disasters or armed conflicts, like teachers, social workers, psychologists, etc.

We are living now a situation of emergency...
