How can my major make the world better?
As educators, our role is to guide and accompany the children's development process, even from 0 “years old”, not to lead or “star in” it.
Within the development process of children, we can find different aspects that have an impact on this development as humans, and also in the future. Some of these aspects are (according to Pikler): attachment, basic care and autonomy.
Trough this concepts and keeping them nos just in mind but putting them into practice, we can promote the confidence, self-esteem, the desire to explore. And also (understanding that childhoods are in the present, that they are "now", they are not just future adults who will serve as a workforce), we will have healthy, creative and emotionally intelligent adult people if we bring them the opportunities of live a relaxing and stimulating childhood.
In this process of being a professional of education I've been changing from day one, having to understand my own childhood, thinking about the children not just as active subjects in their own development, personal and social, but as protagonists. Understanding too that adults don’t know everything and that we must respect the different times of each child. So, this major it’s a big challenge both for me and for society, which comprises a great deconstruction.
