2022- 3rd blog: My kind of job

When I imagine myself working, I always think about the character of the place, because the truth is that I would not like to work in the private education sector, especially when it comes to profit from the fundamental and crucial early education of children.

Maybe directly, the private character of the institutions does no harm, in fact, it can be of "good quality", however, the basis on which it is sustained does not coincide with my ideals and principles, even when we refer to a right such as education. The vision of education will continue to be mercantile, thinking about the achievements of the establishment and how much money it provides, and subject to the free market and not to the best interest of the child and his or her integral and full development.

So in summary, I want to work in a space that involves the community, that understands children as protagonists of their processes and that has as its axis a project of society and not simply standardized objectives to be met.

To carry out my work as I would like to do it, I have to cover in some way, the curricular insufficiency of my major, such as, for example, theories of development and diversity, but above all, the tools that I believe an educator needs (and that I feel I have been developing over time and in a self-taught way) are the capacity for self-management, initiative, the ability to work in a team and often to lead, good communication with the entire educational community and not to limit oneself to administrative work, but to get involved in the dynamics of the center or educational space and its context.

Regarding money, yes, it is true that one "doesn't work for candy balls" (sshhh: I already do it in practice), but I think I am a simple person, with a lifestyle and aspirations closely linked to it, so as long as I can cover my basic expenses (which are on the rise, and the minimum wage increase is not enough :s) and have enough for emergencies and for vacations or improvised outings to have a coffee with the people I love, I would feel satisfied.

Lastly, I don't think my job requires a lot of travel, unless I was doing some kind of volunteering, but in fact, my job also seeks to generate solid and secure ties during the time with children, and I could not do that traveling back and forth.
